Food:
Since we were here for coffee, I picked the Cafe Latte and my friend had the Cold Drip. To satisfy our sweet tooth we picked the Sugarless Chocolate Toffee Cake. The Cafe Latte, well... I would rate it as just decent. Since this was my first attempt at having Cold Drip, I am unable to compare it to anything. I thought it was fine. Finally the cake. Well, it is better left unsaid. Could be their bad day. Maybe I'll head back there, some other time.


Ambiance:
Well they have got this part spot on. Feels great both indoors and outdoors. To top this they have ample car parking facility.

Service:
Quick and efficient, two key ingredients which they have in spades.

Price:
A quick coffee and a bite to eat for two should cost Rs 500 odd.

Food:
I have always imagined and wished a coffee shop brings in dishes which one would see in an English sitcoms. I don't mean the regular Sandwiches and Pastas, but different items. This is the first cafe I have come across in Chennai, to serve Churro. Just like the ones Joey had in Friends! The churro was served with a drizzle of caramel sauce and chocolate sauce on the side. I would most definitely return just for these.





They serve a variety of shakes and their Lindt Chocolate shakes are to die for. I had the Cafe Latte. A true latte lover in me wanted to sample em! The brew was perfecto! They serve up some delicious sandwiches as well, if your in the mood for a quick bite. If you were to order one, I would truly recommend the brown bread sandwich over the regular ones.




They have a big block of a chocolate cake which resembles the tiny cake at Sandy's and a tasty Waffle. A small talk with owner gives me an idea of what is in store for the future. I had a small idea which I passed it along to the owner who seemed to be on the same page as me. A savoury waffle such as Waffle burger! :P Yes that would be different.

Ambiance:
Cozy and neat ambiance!

Price:
The price points here is very reasonable. Infact seeing the price of Lindt Chocolate shake I was shocked that I had paid a similar amount at another cafe in 2008. It should cost around Rs 300/- for two.

Munch Cafe is located inside the DLF building diagonally opposite to Apollo First Med, Kilpauk.

It's becoming increasingly hard to keep track of the restaurants and cafe's opening up in Chennai. One of the most recent entrant into this space is the The Bistro Story. The formation of this place is a story by itself. Created by 3 college friends funded by their raw passion for food and beverages. This puts a interesting spin to the place.





The Red Curry Flavored Chicken Burger and Grilled Smoked Chicken Panini were served together. I did not get to sample my friends burger. But I just watched the juice flow right out of it when he took his first bite. I must say, that was the first time I had a Foodgasm!! The Smoked Chicken Panini was a world apart. I have had so, so so many smoked chicken sandwiches, infact I pick smoked chicken sandwich over the others. This sandwich was by far the best I have had at a cafe. It is on par with the 1000 bucks sandwiches served at big joints. One minor grouse, I really do hope they shift to homemade potato fingers. Both these dishes were served with a chutney of sorts and finger chips. The burger had a bonus of onion rings. I am most definitely going back for the burger. Can't wait for another foodgasm!!

I ordered a Banger Sanger and a Cafe Latte while my friend who had accompanied me ordered a Grilled Chook Sammie and Hot Chocolate. The Banger Sanger and Grilled Chook Sammie were the first to arrive. One bite into our sandwiches was just enough to redeem the place of all our hasty presumptions which we had in our mind. I did not sample my friends sandwich but he assured me it was rocking. My Banger Sanger was simply devine, it was like A R Rahmans melody in my mouth. It reminded me of the sandwich at La Boulangerie. The Latte was a regular affair nothing special  and I would rate it on the same scale as CCD.

The Koala Joe's Cafe is located in the road between Nilgiris and Indian Oil Bunk on Radhakrishnan Salai, right next to Illusions Pub.

I am pretty sure one would love this combo whether, as a coffee time snack or as a dessert after a meal or even as a business conversation snack.

The Eclair and Coffee is available at both Paprika and Rhapsody from 11am to 11pm.

Chicken Quiche was awesome too. The thick cheese layer mingled with chicken was just magical. The only let down of the lot was the cookie shake, which is cold coffee with cookies broken into it. The drink was not sweet and also lacked the coffee punch.

Ambiance:
A very neat looking cafe along the corridor of the hotel. Could seat around 20 people at the max, I suppose. There were also a couple of paintings put up for sale.

Service:
Service was more like the types which we experience at Barista. Waiter was in no moods to let me click pictures of the food and kept saying it was for security reasons. Still I managed to snuck a few clicks.

Price:
The 3 items made my wallet light by Rs530/-

Le Cafe is located inside Novotel Hotel which is inside Hyderabad Convention Center, Hitec City, Hyderabad.

I was here with a friend at the newly opened outlet of Cafe Coffee Day called the CCD Square at Kader Nawaz Road, Nungumbakkam. Actually we were waiting for a friend to join us. Since we both were not in the mood for coffee, we decided to have a light snack.

Food:
Since it was just the two of us, we ordered French Fries in BBQ sauce and Crispy Chicken in BBQ sauce. We were given the option to select how the BBQ sauce was to be served : BBQ sauce along the side or mixed with the dish. My friend thought it would be bold and new to try the mixed variant.

Firstly the fries when mixed with BBQ Sauce became very soggy and chewy. Not a worthy combination. But as for the Crispy Chicken, it remained crispy inspite of the sauce and tasted good Definitely worth the order. I did not get to try-out the other stuff. Maybe some other time.

Ambiance:
The place looks swanky, posh and screams out luxury.

Service:
Service is really good, also a note, it feels like you are pampered by an air-hostess!

Price:
Posh ambiance plus air-hostess service sends the price sky-rocketing to Rs 390 for the two dishes.
CCD has really tried hard to re-invent itself in a luxury avatar, however I still find the CCD tag tied down to cheaper coffee and poor service at the regular outlets.

CCD Square is located on KNK Road bang opposite to the old Mocha building.
Interestingly, there are 3 CCD outlets in KNK Road. From the regular CCD to high-end Square.
