Midnight Snacking - Cocojaunt1728 - Swiggy

08:32:00

There are times I decide to skip dinner and just head to bed only to realize that I am hungry after all. Now this just ruins my very much needed sleep. Finally I have found a fix, thanks to Swiggy. They give you the option to dine at home from your favorite restaurants which remain open till 11pm but which do not do door delivery.

Food:
I chose to have the What a Bomb Burger and Grilled Chicken & Feta in Pita Bread.

Chicken was tender, served with fried egg and a big serving of mayo made it a proper greasy burger. Only grouse was that the bun just did not hold together till the end.

I was hoping for a pita pocket filled with the Grilled Chicken & Feta, but this was more like a deconstructed wrap. Filled to the brim with Grilled Chicken, Black Olives & Lettuce. The soft pita bread made the dish a delight.

Ambiance:
NA

Service:
Swiggy did a fantastic job of delivering the lovely mid-night snack way past 12am in the night. The deliver tracker is a boon.

Price:
The price of the midnight snack was Rs 390/-

Food - 8/10
Service - 10/10
Price - 9/10

Disclaimer: I paid for the meal.

If you wish to do the same head over to your App Store / Play Store and download the Swiggy App and get goodies delivered in a Jiffy

Foodycall - Night Food Delivery

21:37:00

It has been a while since I had ordered from Foodycall. Burning mid-night oil meant feeling really hungry in the wee hours of the day. So I had a chance to order. Also the recent drop in quality meant, I was hunting for new night food delivery options. But then I decided to give them a second chance.

Food:
My usual order, Chicken Club Sandwich and a Chicken Steak Burger. I decided to fine tune the order, I instructed them specifically not to add the sauce on the burger thus helping the meat retain its tasty pepper flavour and not make the bun soggy. Maybe next time I will ask them to caramelise the onions, rather than raw onions which should make the burger one awesome one.

The loss in quality might have been a temporary one. The burger was spot on. Having made them serve the sauce separately only helped enhance the taste of the burger and made the chicken dominate the burger. While the chicken club sandwich was usual fare. My advise would be to add caramelised onions rather than the plain onions which would definitely help build on the flavours.

Service:
Time elapsed from the time of order at 2:00am was 45mins. Pretty fast service I must say.

Price:
The burger and the sandwich cost me Rs 420/-

Dawn and Dusk - Night Food Delivery

21:15:00

Having had FoodyCall as my staple night time food delivery service, I decided to have a little change. I went about surfing the internet to see the other available options.  After careful filtering, I saw Dawn and Dusk. It used to be my goto delivery service way before the plethora of options, came into existence. They had a revamped menu card of course, which looked eye catching. So having spent considerable time going through the menu, I set my heart and tummy on what I wanted to eat. After placing my order, I waited.

Food:
As I had mentioned  earlier, my regular order at a Night Food Delivery service usually has a Burger in it. So I picked the Sloppy Joe Chicken Burger. Since I was really hungry, I ordered a Devil Chicken Wings and finally Chicken Parmigiana. After about 1 hour of wait, my food arrived. Thankfully, the food was warm due to the nice containers. After spending a few minutes clicking the shots, I went about doing the job of digging into the food.

The Devil Chicken Wings, was the way I had imagined it. A little on the charred side, but yeah it tasted fine. Very very similar to what I have had at Gallopin Gooseberries. Moving on the Sloppy Joe Burger, I had my doubts, if my burger had indeed been mixed with the Chilli Billy Burger. The burger failed to match the description of the dish which was mentioned on the menu. Then again I was really hungry I dived into it. The chicken patty was really thin, compared to many other take away joints. Pitting it next to FoodyCall or even Shaack patty makes this look anaemic. Leaving the size aside, the bun was perfect, did not crumble away. So that is a tick. The French Fries were a little soggy by the time I ate them, but then I was prepared for that.  Finally I bit into the Chicken Parmigiana. I had high hopes on this dish. Crumb fried chicken topped with Italian Tomato Sauce and Cheese. Crumb fried chicken that was a tick, tomato sauce - that seemed to have dried out but still liked what remained so thick, finally the cheese on top - nope, it was a disappointment. One sample bite of it and you knew they had skimped on the quality of the cheese. A better quality of the cheese would have definitely helped in lifting the flavours.

Service:
Time elapsed from order to deliver - 1hour and 15mins. Not as fast as the other options which i have had recently. But then again, with the spell of rains, roads being really bad, I can excuse this delay.

Price:
The price paid for these 3 dishes was Rs 672. Of which 60 rupees was charged as a delivery charge. I am not knit picking on the delivery charge. The prices of petrol are really high these days and finding help to deliver is another aspect, so I think it is alright.

Foody Call - All Night Home Delivery

19:16:00

Late night snacks, mid-night munchies, Hungry Kya??  No food in your refrigerator? No worries. Now there is "Foody Call." Of late Chennai has seen a surge in this all night food deliver sector. A recent entrant to this scene is the Foody Call. I came across them while I was just browsing around on Facebook. So on one movie night I decided to order from Foody Call.

Food:
So far I have ordered atleast 5 times. On all my previous occasions my order has been restricted to Continental section of the menu. I just love their Beef Sandwich and I can swear by it. It is one of the best I have ever had. Even my mom who is not a big fan of beef, loved it. The beef is really soft, you might think it is actually mutton. I have had the Chicken Classic Burger as well as the Beef Burger. No battles here. Beef burger wins hands down. After trying the continental a couple of times, I decided to have their the Chinese section. So this time I ordered Chicken Noodles and Chilli Lamb. Yup, the portions are huge. Very filling for one person. The noodles is loaded to the brim with pieces of chicken and Chilli Lamb was spicy with a mild peppery flavour. Inspite of the great flavours present in the noodles and lamb, I still prefer the Beef Sandwich and Burger.

Service:
They promise a delivery time under 45 minutes and I have received it well under 30mins on most occasions. So cheers to that!

Price:
Pricing is pretty decent a burger and sandwich should cost around Rs 330 odd. Plus the delivery is free, so total value for money. Also they do not have a minimum billing amount for delivery.
