Breadworks, Esteem Mall, Bangalore

08:16:00

A dash and splash visit to Bangalore cannot end for me, without eating out in atleast one resto. After a long session of conference at MS Ramaiah Medical College, myself along with a few of my class mates from Chennai,  decided to head to Esteem Mall, since it was the closest to where we were put up. On entering the mall we could find only two options available to us - Mc Donalds and Breadworks. Since we were really hungry we decided to grab a bite in both the locations.

Food:
After digging into Mc Chicken Burger, we headed to Breadworks to have a nice little dessert. Since only two of us were interested in eating, we ordered a Lemon Cheese Cake and as an after thought we ordered a Chicken Burger. Both the dishes were a little disappointing. The burger lacked any of the greasiness which one would associate with a burger, so on the whole very average burger. While the Lemon Cheese Cake had a very little amount of lemon flavor to it, it seemed more like a plain cheese cake. End of the meal I felt a little disappointed. Maybe next my next visit to Bangalore might be better.

Ambiance:
The ambiance was very much similar to a Hot Breads outlet in Chennai.

Service:
The service was pretty decent, but let down majorly by disappointing food.

Price:
We coughed up Rs125/-, for the most disappointing meal.

Food - 4/10
Ambiance - 6/10
Service - 8/10
Price - 7/10

Breadworks in located at Esteem Mall in Bangalore.

Lloyds Tea House, Gopalapuram - CFG Showcase

16:32:00

It is called a Tea House, but there is more to this place than just tea. I must say, I was quite surprised with the dishes served here. I was here at Llyolds Tea along CFG members as a part of showcase and we were all in for a big gastronomic adventure.

Food:
Since this is a tea house, we started off by sampling the tea, with each one of us ordering different flavoured iced teas. The teas looked really great, but taste wise was a let down. It was way too light with very little flavor.

Moving on to the food, we had to wait a quite a bit before the food was served. But once the food reached us, I could hear everyone going yummm!!! I must say they have a fantastic chef. Everything which was served was outstanding. I did not expect such a quality at a tea house. BBQ chicken was the first to be served. One word-awesome! Then came the Spicy Garlic Bread. It was spicy-check, it had garlic-check and yes it was on a bread! A dish which most will like.

If you are a sucker for Prawns, then Prawn Remoulade is the dish for you. Remoulade maybe a dish which was invented in France, but I bet this would pass off as an accompaniment with the Indian Ghee Rice. Now I badly want to try this combination yummmmmmy!!

After the prawns out came the Risotto with a Creamy Ratatouille. Ah! Risotto, the Italian cousin of Indian Ghee Rice, was soft and buttery smooth served along with Ratatouille which was quite brilliant. I have not had another Ratatouille before for me to compare this with. I guess I need to ask the "Little Chef".

Lloyds does serve up some cafe style thin crust pizzas. They may not wow you, but they certainly will not diappoint you. We, non-veggies got to sample the Roasted Chicken Pizza which was loaded to the brim with cheese.

Whether its a cafe or a tea house, they need to serve up some amazing sandwichs. At this place I got sample the Chicken Club Sandwich which was triple layered with loads of chicken and lettuce and filled with cheese and served along with fries. This was one delicious treat. Since I was begining to get stuffed at this point, I had just a spoonful of the Pasta Tuscany, which seemed yumm!! Finally we were served a  different looking dish called the Zucchini Fantasy which I skipped.

For desserts I nibbled on a bit of Red Velvet Cake and Pound Cake. The cakes tasted just okay. I sure have had better desserts elsewhere. This is something which they need to improve on.

Ambiance:
It is really bright and airy. But I really hope they add a few more couches instead of the regular chair and tables.

Price:
A meal for two cost about Rs 800/-, which seems like pretty good value for the money.

Lloyds Tea House is located in Gopalapuram opposite to Nilgiris departmental store.

Pizza Republic, Ethiraj Salai

21:51:00

After Tuscana Pizzeria, my next favorite destination to have pizzas has become Pizza Republic. Gone are the days of having Pizza from Pizza Hut, Dominos and like. Pizza Republic has become the choice when my wallet is on a diet. Until now I have suffered with the need to drive off to places which are little away from my home. Now there is an outlet slightly closer to my house, which gave me more reason to visit it. I was here in Pizza Republic on Ethiraj Salai on the day it was opened. I must say I loved the fine pizza.

Food:
Since I was dining all alone, I chose to have Chica- Chik on a multi-grain crust with normal cheese, spiciness and juiciness. Yes, I decided to add a dash of olives. Olives oh, heavenly olives, I love em!  Chica - Chik is an overload of chicken with Tandoori Chicken, Salami & Sausages with assorted veggies. The pizza was served fresh out of the oven, juicy, cheesy, crispy and yummy! A perfect pizza to satiate my pizza appetite. I did find some difference between pizzas served here in this outlet and the Taramani out-let. Not sure if it is supposed to happen. Or is it down to the pizza maker? Verdict thumbs up on the new outlet.

Ambiance:
This outlet could seat around 20 people at a time. It looks more to cater to delivery and take-away crowd and of-course the crowd from Ethiraj College. The ambiance is neat with fuss-free simple decor.

Service:
The service is fast and fresh. Period.

Price:
The price for a pizza again comes down to what you order and how you customize it. A single non-veg pizza can cost from Rs 180 to all the way up to Rs 600.

Food - 8/10
Ambiance - 7/10
Service - 9/10
Price - 8/10

Pizza Republic - Egmore is located opposite to Ethiraj College on Ethiraj Salai.

Spoonbill, Alwarpet - CFG Showcase

16:55:00

Spoonbill is one of the places which combines the street food from different parts of the WORLD to form an interesting amalgamation of street cuisine. I was here some time last year, with a couple of my  friends. We loved the food. Period!  But we did not get the opportunity to get back, simply because it was a little far away from home. CFG Showcase here at Spoonbill was a good enough reason for me to head here.

Food:
Since I am good at talking about the non-veg part of the cuisine I' ll start off talking about that end of the food served. If you are to visit Spoonbill and you failed to have a Doner Kebab (Turkey) or Currywurst (Germany) or the Burito (Mexico), then you are the biggest loser. These are the best non-veg dishes on the menu . Also each of the these dishes have different ways in which you could modify them to taste differently. The Chicken Currywurst is an absolute must have with the Madras Masala spice. The currywurst is served along with a soft bread, which creates a deadly combo. If you are a lover of the Burrito lover, this Chicken Burrito is the one for you. It is served along with a crispy tasty nachos.

Veggies do have some fabulous dishes on the menu as well. Firstly a sandwich called Piadina, which looks like a sandwich made with Chappati instead of bread with spread made of veggies and rich creamy cheese. Then there is the Falafel salad. Falafel salad comes from the same land as the Doner Kebab but only it is the vegetarian relative. Veggies do have the Veg.Burito, but I just loved chicken version that I cannot find a case to recommend the veg. Finally my favorite among all the veg dishes was the Hara Bhara Kebab from the Indian cuisine which is made from Spinach. Just loved the taste. It is a dish even a Non-Veggie would die for.

After having some delicious treats one would definitely want to settle down to something sweet to satisfy the sweet tooth. Lip smacking heavenly delights, whether you settle down for the plain Nutella treat or an ice cream filled one, you are sure in for a treat.

As I have said in the beginning, Spoonbill is a true amalgamation of street food.

Ambiance:
A very simple decor over looking the streets of TTK Road. What more can street food joint want?

Price:
A meal for two should work around Rs 1000/-, for which you get to relish on food from around the world.

Spoonbill is located on TTK Road, above Cafe Coffee Day outlet.
